More people are reaching for simple, handmade soap, and goat's milk soap is one of the most popular. Here's why it feels different from many store-bought bars, and why it's a good fit for dry or sensitive skin.
Gentle and Moisturizing
Goat's milk adds natural fats to the bar, and handmade cold-process soap keeps the glycerin that forms during soapmaking. Together they give a creamy lather that cleans without that tight, squeaky feeling, leaving skin feeling soft and comfortable.
Naturally Rich Milk
Goat's milk contains fats, proteins and small amounts of vitamins and minerals. In soap, those fats are what make the lather feel rich and creamy.
A Good Fit for Dry or Sensitive Skin
Because it cleans gently, goat's milk soap is a popular choice for people with dry or sensitive skin. If your skin reacts easily, start with an unscented bar like Beauty Bare and patch test first. If you have a skin condition, talk with a dermatologist about what's right for you.
A Soft, Smooth Feel
Goat's milk contains a little lactic acid. Paired with a creamy lather, it helps skin feel smooth and look more radiant after washing.
A Note About pH
All true soap, including goat's milk soap, is mildly alkaline, while skin is slightly acidic. That's normal, and your skin rebalances after you rinse. If your skin feels tight after washing, use lukewarm water and moisturize right after. We explain more in Lye Soap: Old-Fashioned Cleansing for Sensitive Skin.
Simple Ingredients
A good handmade bar has a short ingredient list you can read. Ours are made with goat milk, shea butter, coconut oil, beef tallow, lard, sunflower oil and castor oil. Fragrance-sensitive? Choose an unscented bar.
